PUB Crawl Newsletter

Happy Monday, Trailblazers!

We’re kicking off this week with a mix of community conversations, security updates, and some really thoughtful design and architecture discussions across Nonprofit Cloud and NPSP.

First, a huge thank you to Anne Crawford for following up on last week’s newsletter and sharing two short videos on MFA security updates. These are especially timely given the ongoing rollout of Salesforce’s security changes:

We really appreciate Anne taking the time to share these resources with the community, and as always, if you come across something helpful (or something you think others should be aware of), you can always send it through to be included in future editions!

Now, onto this week’s roundup!

Don't forget, you can have the goodness of the PUB Crawl delivered into your inbox each Monday morning by subscribing today!

Great Posts from the Salesforce Power of Us Hub

  1. Wrapping up NPSP Day Chicago 2026!
    Kaden Chmara (Soapbox Engage)

Earlier this month, the Chicago Salesforce nonprofit community came together for another good ol' day of community learning and problem-solving, and we had a blast!

There were thoughtful discussions around data governance, documentation, user adoption, and organizational alignment—all reminders that successful technology projects are ultimately about people as much as platforms.

Head to this post to read our recap and see some photos from the day!

  2. Blog Post: Our Outcry is Heard!
    Michael Kolodner (Kolodner.com LLC)

After weeks of discussion and concern from the Salesforce community, there may be some good news on the security front. This post from Michael looks at recent updates to Salesforce's planned step-up authentication requirements and highlights where community feedback appears to be making a difference. Thanks for keeping us up to date, Michael!

  3. Security Updates on Salesforce Break
    Andy Engin Utkan (BRDPro Consulting)

And while we're on the subject of Salesforce's security changes, Salesforce Break has one more roundup worth checking out. These articles cover the broader enforcement timeline, explain what phishing-resistant MFA actually means in practice, and explore why many partners and consultants have been raising concerns about the rollout and its impact on customers. Thanks, Andy!

  4. How Are Nonprofits Navigating AI Adoption Thoughtfully?
    Alix Penn (Rainbow Migration)

AI adoption is a major topic across the nonprofit sector. This community discussion explores how organizations are approaching AI thoughtfully, particularly when handling sensitive data, navigating ethical concerns, and deciding how deeply to integrate AI into Salesforce. Check out the comments for a really thorough response from Terry Cole, who shares some practical examples of where AI is delivering value today and where nonprofits should proceed more cautiously.

  5. NPSP: Household Account Naming Best Practices
    Jamie Moran (Jamie Moran)

This Trailblazer is looking for community recommendations on best practices for naming Households in NPSP. Share what works for your team and see what others have done!

  6. NPC: Choosing Between Person Accounts and Contacts for Fundraising Models
    Wayne Emerson (Wayne Emerson)

This Trailblazer is asking about a foundational design decision when moving to Nonprofit Cloud: whether to use Person Accounts or stick with a traditional Accounts and Contacts model. For organizations focused mainly on corporate fundraising with some individual giving, there is often confusion around when Person Accounts are actually needed versus when a simpler Account/Contact model is more appropriate. Check out the discussion!

Great Events

  2. NPSP Day New York - September 3
    Kaden Chmara (Soapbox Engage)

We're thrilled to be taking NPSP Day back to New York after a successful NPSP Fundraising Day NY back in March! Though September's event won't be fundraising topic-specfic, it'll bring all the same community exploration and goodness we experienced in the spring!

This event is designed for all nonprofit Salesforce users. Whether you’re deep in NPSP, exploring Nonprofit Cloud (NPC)/Agentforce for Nonprofit, or just starting to think about what’s next, you’re in the right place!

Great Ideas for Nonprofits Using Salesforce

  1. NPC: Enable Constituent Role Context for Standard Objects
    Jennifer Carneiro (Passion Fruit Partners)

Here's an idea to expand the Constituent Role object's Context Record support to key Nonprofit Cloud objects such as Gift Commitments, Program Enrollments, Funding Awards, and Gift Designations. Doing so would give organizations a more flexible way to model complex relationships and stakeholder roles without relying on custom affiliation objects, multiple lookups, or other workarounds. Vote if you agree!
