PUB Crawl for March 27, 2017

With the fantastic NPSP Sprint in Baltimore, and the Nonprofit Technology Conference in DC, It’s been a crazy past week. There's nothing better than sharing ideas and knowledge with members of our open source community, hitting the streets for 7am runs, staying awake into the late hours talking governor limits (all of that actually happened).

With more than 100 penguins now adopted in new homes, I'm able to refocus my energies back to the taps of knowledge here at the PUB Crawl. Grab a barstool and join me for a round of Salesforce news!

Great Posts from the Salesforce Power of Us Hub

  1. Count number of years someone has been a donor
    Jessica Kwok (Dayspring Technologies)

Having a way to keep tabs on the length of time someone has been a donor can be helpful as you move donors up ladders of engagement. How can you easily keep track of this over years?

  2. Nonprofit Success Pack v3.93 Released
    Chris Polcyn (Salesforce.org)

Oui, welcome to the French translation of the NPSP among other great updates!

  3. Salesforce.org Documentation Guidelines
    Judi Sohn (Salesforce.org)

I'll admit, this headline might sound boring, but I promise that if you're looking to contribute to the greatness that is the NPSP, it's the perfect mental workout for your contributor brain!

  4. 2017 Mass Email Comparison Report
    Ryan Ozimek (Soapbox Engage)

It's come to my attention that people still read email, which is fantastic considering my medium choice for the PUB Crawl. Guess which one I use!

  5. Attention those who use Leads! Why and how do you use Leads at your Organization?
    Cori O'Brien (ATS Payments)

The Leadites at the NPSP Sprint in Baltimore seek your input on the ways in which you're using Leads. All your ideas help document the ways our communities can take advantage of this in Salesforce.

  6. How to Create New Objects by Cloning/Copying Existing
    Kate Kendall (BASH Local)

I wish it was possible to clone myself to increase my burrito intake, but until then, I'll settle for a good way to easily clone entire objects. Here's how!

  7. Fundraisers: what can't you live without on Campaigns?
    Christian Carter (Bigger Boat Consulting)

With the US political election season behind us, you might wonder why "campaigns" are such an important itch that Christian wants to scratch. Read on friends, read on!

Great Events for the Salesforce Nonprofit Community

  1. NPSP Day Toronto - Wed, Apr 19
    Ryan Ozimek (Soapbox Engage)

NPSP Day in Toronto is on its way! Get ready for a day of learning, networking, and engaging in all things Salesforce. You might still need a coat, but just picture all the NPSP goodness you will soak up!

  2. HUB Office Hours - Fri, Mar 31 @12pm ET
Caroline Renard (Technology Interpreter for Arts Groups)

Data housekeeping will be the topic to close out HUB Office Hours for March! Get ready to dive deep into archiving, data quality, and data clean up with Gorav Seth and Jason Cook. Bring loads of questions, and plenty of quarters for the washing machine!

Great Ideas

  1. Enable (or fix?) Engagement Plan Templates to have date-specific tasks.
    Susanna Sharp (Northwest Maritime Center)

It seems that deadlines still play a role in getting things done in the world. How about finding a way to include them in Engagement Plan Templates?

  2. Allow logic for User Defined Rollups to be separate from standard NPSP rollups
    Tim Forbes (Soapbox Engage)

Want to make User Defined Rollups even more powerful? This user story generated at the NPSP Sprint in Baltimore should do the trick!
