Happy Monday, Trailblazers!
I’m finally settling back into west coast time after an amazing week in Washington, DC! Not only did we get the full Soapbox Engage team together to plan for bringing even more value to nonprofits in 2026, but we also hosted another hit NPSP Day in the nation’s capital. From hands-on sessions to lively conversations, it was inspiring to see the community come together in person. If you missed it, don’t worry—you still have one more chance to join us for NPSP Day in 2025: we’ll be in Philadelphia on December 4!

- Sending Emails with Person Accounts and Nonprofit Cloud
James Lungi (Get Your Brand Up)This Trailblazer is looking for best practices for sending list emails and using merge fields with Person Accounts in NPC. Merge fields want Contact data, but they also need Account-level info, and adding Person Accounts to email lists or campaigns from the Account view isn't very straight forward. They’re hoping for tips and tricks to make emailing with both Contact and Account data smooth and painless. Share your ideas!
- Issue with NPSP Data Importer Creating Anonymous Organizations
Michelle Dwyer (BibleProject)This Trailblazer ran into a puzzling NPSP Data Importer issue: while donations linked to existing Contacts uploaded just fine, a user’s import of new Organization Accounts kept creating Anonymous Households instead of named Organizations. The cause? The user’s default Account Record Type was set to Household rather than Organization. Because NPSP expects a Primary Contact for Households, it defaults to the Anonymous naming rules, switching the default record type to Organization resolves the issue. If you've experienced a similar issue, here's your fix!

Great Ideas for Nonprofits Using Salesforce
- Fundraising for Experience Cloud Should Give Access to Designations
Junette Tan (Passion Fruit Partners)Currently, external users who are provided access to Salesforce through Experience Cloud to view giving history are able to view Gift Transactions, but not Gift Transaction Designations. The permission set license available for external users (Fundraising for Experience Cloud) does not provide any access to Gift Designations (and, by extension, Gift Transaction Designations). Adding this functionality would enable donors to confirm that their donations were designated correctly to the areas they chose. Vote for this idea in the IdeaExchange to help it come to fruition!
