PUB Crawl for July 30, 2018

A quick stretch of back-to-back NPSP Days in Portland and San Francisco flew by last week, propelled by some of the best doughnuts the Pacific Northwest had to offer (that's Blue Star, for you non-locals). We've now officially turned the corner into the third year for these two cities, and it's exciting to see these unconferences evolve as the community changes shape.

Talking of change, a ton of it is about to happen this week in Denver, with the Salesforce.org open source community sprints. While our NPSP Days are focused more on knowledge sharing and training, these sprints are an opportunity for the community to develop the resources and code needed to support organizations around the world using HEDA and the NPSP.

While I'm way out here in Washington DC, I tip my captain's hat to the fine folks rallying together in Denver. May the open source spirit carry you across the sprinting finish line!

Don't forget, you can have the goodness of the PUB Crawl delivered into your inbox each Monday morning by subscribing today!

Great Posts from the Salesforce Power of Us Hub

  1. Is there a recurring donor import template?
Peter Fugazzotto (Turtle Island Restoration Network)

It's fantastic that the NPSP Data Import Tool and its template exists, but what about all those historical recurring donations? How can we avoid the torment of manual data entry?

  2. Cost analysis for SF apps related to fundraising/advancement
    Cindy Oberg-Hauser (Twin Cities Rise)

While the answer is almost invariably, "it depends", I'm always up for a good discussion that helps organizations really understand what all this good technology costs.

  3. Merging Problems with the Non-Profit Starter Pack
    Bibin Mathew (Multiple Sclerosis Limited)

Are zombie like "Anonymous Households" appearing in your database? A little seemingly harmless Contact merging might be the culprit.

David Kilada (Oregon Right to Life)

Ah yes, this brings back good memories of my home phone line as a teenager. Should those home phone numbers be stored on the Household phone field or on all individual Contact phone fields?

  7. Suggestions for rolling up partially deductible opportunities
    Natali Terreri (PCC Farmland Trust)

So many good ways to record the component parts of a donation, I'm just going to leave it to the community's feedback to share some great insights.

Great Ideas for Nonprofits Using Salesforce

  1. NPSP Data Import Tool App
    Katie McFadden (Common Voyage)

The NPSP Data Import Tool currently has a bit of a behind-the-scenes magic feel to it. What if we give it a bit of a front-and-center spotlight to help educate folks on what it does and how to use it?
