Google Checkout to be retired in November...now what?

On Monday, Google announced that it will retire Google Checkout in November 2013.

Google Checkout

What does that mean for organizations using Google Checkout to accept online payments? As Google notes:

If you don't have your own payment processing, you will need to transition to a different solution within six months. To make things easier, we've partnered with Braintree, Shopify and Freshbooks to offer you discounted migration options.

The partnership with Braintree caught our eye in particular. It offers Google Checkout users a lifetime discounted price of 2.7% + $.30 per transaction charge. Combined with Braintree's no monthly fee, that provides an extremely affordable option and adds one more reason to our list of four reasons to choose Braintree as payment processor for your nonprofit donations.

Our Soapbox platform works with Braintree to allow organizations to accept online payments for donations, member dues and event registrations seamlessly on their website - as well as to save transaction details to Salesforce.com, if you use it as your constituent relationship management tool.
