Our Clients Rock: Global Fund for Women

At PICnet, we love what we do. Deeply. And the prime numero uno reason for this is that we work with great clients who are rocking the world for social good.
We're happy to share the next in our occasional series of personal little love notes from a PICnetter to one of our clients. Julie Dennis sends this out to the good folks at the Global Fund for Women.

Who is Global Fund for Women?

Global Fund for WomenGlobal Fund for Women funds women-led organizations at the local, regional and national level. Through its support grants, the Global Fund for Women advances women’s rights by increasing resources for and investing in these organizations. Their main vision is to create a sustainable world where women and girls realize their human rights and have a voice to create change.

Why does Global Fund for Women rock?

As of May 16, 2013, the Global Fund for Women has made a total of 9,217 grants totaling $108,210,508.98 to over 4,500 organizations in 174 countries. Isn’t that amazing? But it’s so much more than money – it’s what Global Fund does with these grants that makes the change. To highlight some of the major achievements for equality in the women’s movement, Global Fund has created a Top Ten Wins page. There are so many amazing social justice moments including a domestic violence treaty in Europe, Sri Lankan women protesting unfair work conditions, and Moroccan gender equality.  Go women!

How is Global Fund rocking things currently?

The Global Fund is celebrating its 25th anniversary! Yes, a quarter of a century ago, three brave women - Anne Firth Murray, Frances Kissling, and Laura Lederer - realized the lack of funding of women’s organizations and set forth to create an organization that would do just that. To celebrate the success of Global Fund, they are hosting a 25th anniversary gala in San Francisco in October of this year. The gala will be honoring women leaders in the fields of technology, sustainability, and girls' education — and premiering some great videos. Plus, there will be a special guest speaker - which you can help determine by offering your suggestion. The NYC gala held earlier this year had Hillary Rodham Clinton as honorary guest speaker, so I have no doubt that San Francisco's speaker will be equally as awesome!

Check out the Global Fund for Women site to get more info on the gala, offer your suggestion for a speaker, or give a donation!
