At Soapbox Engage we have a great ecosystem of consultants that share our non-profit values and have expertise in Soapbox Engage solutions. OpenTent is one of those amazing consultants whose work we have long admired!

We recently caught up with Kayleigh Collins at OpenTent to learn more about what they offer, what kinds of organizations they work with, and what makes them unique. Get to know them better below!

Kayleigh Collins, Co-Owner + Director of Coaching

Can you tell us about your firm's early days, and why you're doing the work you do?

We started OpenTent over 5 years ago because we saw the immense potential of new tech tools, and knew from lived experience that translating that potential into reality would be challenging for many organizations. We believe that strong systems power strong relationships. We also believe that Salesforce and other tools have the power to magnify the transformational effects community and relationships can have on our daily lives.

OpenTent is dedicated to serving those organizations that are working on solving the world’s most pressing issues. We are a team of Salesforce Engineers and Organizational Development professionals with a passion for working on mission-driven projects who all come from working at nonprofits ourselves.

What are some of the key services you provide to the nonprofit community?

We provide holistic Salesforce consulting. We work with our clients to cultivate the three key ingredients for long term, sustainable Salesforce success: platform, people, process. This includes:

  • Salesforce implementation: interface, data model, automation, security
  • Data migration
  • Third-party integrations, including email marketing
  • User testing/quality assurance
  • Coaching for Salesforce Admins and their managers
  • Hiring (recruitment + screening)
  • Training
  • User adoption
  • Change management
  • Org Design for Salesforce teams
  • Business process mapping, analysis, and design
  • Analytics/Measurement
  • KPI/OKR design

Is there a particular type, size, location of organization that makes a great fit for your services?

Our vision is to assist organizations working on the world’s most pressing issues. We help clients like Braven that empower promising, underrepresented young people with the skills, confidence, experiences and networks necessary to transition from college to strong first jobs and careers of impact. We also work with the Centre for Effective Altruism that seeks to build a community of students and professionals who act on effective altruism principles.

We are location independent and work with organizations all over the world. For our full consulting offerings, we usually recommend an organization has at least 20 Salesforce users.

Can you tell us a bit about what makes your firm unique?

We focus on long-term, sustainable Salesforce success leveraging a people-centered, agile approach. We believe that true return on your Salesforce investment takes time and we are committed to being by your side for the long haul. Our approach includes a bite-sized period of discovery at the beginning of every engagement, so we can generate a holistic understanding of our client’s cultural and strategic needs. We then employ cross functional teams that include engineers, project managers + relationship managers with the addition of coaches + strategists on an as-needed basis. Our teams work in an iterative, agile framework so we can begin delivering tangible value to the client immediately, while adapting to their needs as they emerge.

All members of our consulting team have previously worked for nonprofits. We understand the nonprofit world, and we want to help your organization thrive.

When does your team find Soapbox Engage most useful to leverage for your clients?

Currently our client ‘Essie Justice Group’ is leveraging Soapbox Engage for this donation form. We are absolutely interested in leveraging Soapbox products for the right clients.

Do you have any upcoming developments or events you'd like the community to know about?

We are always interested in meeting new people and sharing interesting stories. If you’d like to grab a (digital) coffee, please reach out.

What's one piece of advice you would give a nonprofit when it comes to their technology and data?

We believe that sustainable Salesforce success exists at the intersection of your technical system and your organizational system. Solving immediate technical concerns is important, but long-term success is built on a foundational understanding of understanding your people’s needs, goals and motivations on a cultural and strategic level.
